Denver → Edwards
Denver to Edwards Car Service
Edwards is 134 miles from Denver International, about 2h 20m away on a summer day. It is the Vail Valley's commercial center rather than a ski village, so the lifts are a separate short trip.

Starting downtown instead of at DEN
A downtown Denver hotel is 110 miles from Edwards. That is 24 miles closer than the airport.
If you land late and sleep in Denver first, the mountain leg the next morning is shorter.
How the car gets there
Everything up to Vail follows the I-70 route covered on our Denver to Vail page. Edwards is 14 miles past it.
The car leaves I-70 at exit 163. The Edwards Access Road, signed as Business I-70, runs to a roundabout on US-6 at Edwards Village Boulevard.
There is no gate and no check-in. The road ends at a roundabout, and US-6 runs straight through the middle of town on the south side of the Eagle River.
No ski-in lodging, but a free bus
Edwards has no ski-in lodging of its own. You reach the lifts from here by road.
ECO Transit runs the Highway 6 bus between Edwards, Avon, Eagle-Vail and Vail. The fare is free, and the ride to Vail takes about 25 to 30 minutes.
The same line stops in Avon. From there the free Riverfront Express gondola climbs to Beaver Creek Landing in about 3 minutes.
The road into Arrowhead and Cordillera
Edwards is the road gateway to two gated communities. Both use exit 163.
Arrowhead has a staffed main gate at the Highway 6 roundabout.
Cordillera climbs uphill from Highway 6 to its gated entrance. Its rate starts higher, at $720 for an SUV with up to 6 passengers.
If your rental is in either one, give us that address, not just “Edwards.” The gate and the final miles differ.

Questions we actually get asked
- How long does it take to drive from Denver airport to Edwards?
- 134 miles and 2h 20m–2h 23m in clear conditions. Winter weekends run longer.
- How much is a car from Denver airport to Edwards?
- From $550 one way for an SUV with up to six passengers — the price is for the vehicle, not per passenger. Tolls, child seats and gratuity are included. Larger groups ride in a Sprinter, quoted on request.
- Which high points does this route cross?
- Eisenhower Tunnel at 11,158 ft, Vail Pass at 10,662 ft. Weather closes them from time to time, and any detour adds time.
- Do I need snow chains or a special vehicle?
- Not in our car. Colorado enforces its traction law on I-70 between Dotsero and Morrison from September 1 through May 31, and every vehicle in our fleet carries compliant tires for the full season. In a rental it is your problem: the fine is $100 plus a $33 surcharge, and all-wheel drive alone does not satisfy the law.
- How high is it, and will the altitude bother me?
- Edwards sits at 7,221 ft, 1,941 feet above Denver — below the 8,000-foot line where sleeping-elevation guidance starts.
- Will our skis and luggage fit?
- A Suburban gives 41.5 cubic feet with all three rows up and 98.8 with the third folded. Ski bags are long rather than bulky, so the constraint is usually shape, not volume — tell us the passenger count, bag count and ski bag count and we will size the vehicle.
- Where do I meet my driver at Denver airport?
- Pre-arranged private cars meet passengers on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal, at Island 2. Your driver waits at the vehicle in the designated pickup area, not inside the terminal.
- What happens if my flight is delayed?
- Airport waiting is included in the price. A delayed flight is not a rebooking.
- Should I fly into EGE instead?
- EGE is about 28 minutes from Edwards. Tell us which airport you are landing at when you request the quote.
