A gated community, not a ski resort

Cordillera covers 7,000 acres behind two staffed gatehouses with transponder access. It has its own golf courses: the Summit, the Mountain and the Valley Club.

It runs no ski lifts of its own. The community adjoins Arrowhead and Beaver Creek, and that is where Cordillera guests ski. If your first stop is the slopes rather than the house, see Denver to Arrowhead or Denver to Beaver Creek.

2,300 feet inside one gate

The lowest neighborhoods sit at 7,100 feet, along Colorow Creek Road. The Summit sits at 9,400 feet. That is a 2,300-foot spread inside a single community.

A booking that just says “Cordillera” does not tell a driver which end you mean. Send the full street address and the neighborhood name with your request. A house at the Summit and a house near Colorow Creek Road are different drop-offs.

The gatehouses are staffed and entry uses transponders. Ask your host or rental manager how guest vehicles are cleared at the gate. Pass that on with the address.

The route from DEN

The drive is 140 miles. I-70 west crosses the Eisenhower Tunnel at 11,158 feet and Vail Pass at 10,662 feet.

At exit 163 in Edwards, the car leaves the interstate and turns west on Highway 6. From there the road climbs to the gated entrance. Edwards is the valley’s road gateway to both Cordillera and Arrowhead; its own page is Denver to Edwards.

Eagle County is 25 miles away

Eagle County Regional Airport (EGE) is about 25 miles from Cordillera. The drive takes about 35 minutes.

That is 115 fewer miles than the trip from DEN. Cordillera lies east of EGE, while the tunnel and Vail Pass lie east of Edwards, so neither one is on the Eagle drive. Pickups at Eagle are covered on our Eagle airport page.

What the rate covers

Questions we actually get asked

How much is a car from Denver airport to Cordillera?
From $720 one way for an SUV with up to six passengers — the price is for the vehicle, not per passenger. Tolls, child seats and gratuity are included. Larger groups ride in a Sprinter, quoted on request.
Which high points does this route cross?
Eisenhower Tunnel at 11,158 ft, Vail Pass at 10,662 ft. Weather closes them from time to time, and any detour adds time.
Do I need snow chains or a special vehicle?
Not in our car. Colorado enforces its traction law on I-70 between Dotsero and Morrison from September 1 through May 31, and every vehicle in our fleet carries compliant tires for the full season. In a rental it is your problem: the fine is $100 plus a $33 surcharge, and all-wheel drive alone does not satisfy the law.
How high is it, and will the altitude bother me?
Cordillera runs from 7,100 ft to 9,400 ft, so the drop-off address decides how high you sleep. Standard guidance above 8,000 feet is to gain no more than 1,000 feet of sleeping elevation per night.
Will our skis and luggage fit?
A Suburban gives 41.5 cubic feet with all three rows up and 98.8 with the third folded. Ski bags are long rather than bulky, so the constraint is usually shape, not volume — tell us the passenger count, bag count and ski bag count and we will size the vehicle.
Where do I meet my driver at Denver airport?
Pre-arranged private cars meet passengers on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal, at Island 2. Your driver waits at the vehicle in the designated pickup area, not inside the terminal.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Airport waiting is included in the price. A delayed flight is not a rebooking.
Should I fly into EGE instead?
EGE is about 35 minutes from Cordillera. Tell us which airport you are landing at when you request the quote.
