Exit 167 and five roundabouts

Avon has its own I-70 exit: 167. The ramp drops you straight onto Avon Road.

Then come five roundabouts in half a mile. They carry you past Nottingham Park and into the town center.

The Denver to Vail page covers the Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail Pass, which you cross before exit 167.

The valley-floor door to Beaver Creek

Avon sits at 7,431 feet, on the valley floor below Beaver Creek’s ski terrain.

The free Riverfront Express gondola links the two. It runs from Avon to Beaver Creek Landing in about 3 minutes. The Westin Riverfront Resort sits at the gondola base.

An Avon address can work as a Beaver Creek ski base. You ride up in the morning instead of driving up to the resort. Staying inside the resort instead? See Denver to Beaver Creek.

Parking and buses in town

Avon has free all-day parking next to the gondola. Parking at Beaver Creek is paid. That matters if part of your group rents a car or drives up separately.

ECO Transit’s Highway 6 bus is fare-free. It runs between Edwards, Avon, Eagle-Vail and Vail. Dinner in Edwards or an afternoon in Vail does not require a car.

What the trip costs

From $550 for an SUV with up to 6 passengers, one way. The rate covers the vehicle, not each seat.

Vehicle options are on the fleet page, and every published rate is on the rates page.

Landing at EGE

Eagle County Regional (EGE) is 28 minutes from Avon, and the drive skips Vail Pass.

That gap is worth checking before you book flights. The Eagle Airport to Beaver Creek page describes the shorter drive. Every town we serve is listed on service areas.

Questions we actually get asked

How long does it take to drive from Denver airport to Avon?
130 miles and 2h 15m–2h 19m when the roads are clear. On peak ski weekends the same drive stretches to 4h.
How much is a car from Denver airport to Avon?
From $550 one way for an SUV with up to six passengers — the price is for the vehicle, not per passenger. Tolls, child seats and gratuity are included. Larger groups ride in a Sprinter, quoted on request.
Which high points does this route cross?
Eisenhower Tunnel at 11,158 ft, Vail Pass at 10,662 ft. Weather closes them from time to time, and any detour adds time.
Do I need snow chains or a special vehicle?
Not in our car. Colorado enforces its traction law on I-70 between Dotsero and Morrison from September 1 through May 31, and every vehicle in our fleet carries compliant tires for the full season. In a rental it is your problem: the fine is $100 plus a $33 surcharge, and all-wheel drive alone does not satisfy the law.
How high is it, and will the altitude bother me?
Avon sits at 7,431 ft, 2,151 feet above Denver — below the 8,000-foot line where sleeping-elevation guidance starts.
Will our skis and luggage fit?
A Suburban gives 41.5 cubic feet with all three rows up and 98.8 with the third folded. Ski bags are long rather than bulky, so the constraint is usually shape, not volume — tell us the passenger count, bag count and ski bag count and we will size the vehicle.
Where do I meet my driver at Denver airport?
Pre-arranged private cars meet passengers on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal, at Island 2. Your driver waits at the vehicle in the designated pickup area, not inside the terminal.
What happens if my flight is delayed?
Airport waiting is included in the price. A delayed flight is not a rebooking.
Should I fly into EGE instead?
EGE is about 28 minutes from Avon. Tell us which airport you are landing at when you request the quote.
