Chevrolet Suburban
The Suburban is the workhorse of Colorado ground transportation, and on a ski week it is usually the correct answer.
- Passengers
- 6
- Behind 3rd row
- 41.5 ft³
- Behind 2nd row
- 98.8 ft³
- Maximum
- 144.5 ft³
- 3rd row legroom
- 36.7"
Why it wins in winter
Most cargo volume of our two SUVs — 98.8 cubic feet with the third row folded — and 36.7 inches of legroom back there when you need all the seats instead.
That trade is the whole decision on a ski trip: seats or gear. The Suburban is the vehicle where you do not have to choose as early as you do in the others.
Traction law, in practice
From September 1 to May 31 the law applies to every passenger vehicle on I-70 between Dotsero and Morrison, and drivetrain does not exempt it — the requirement is tread and rating.
Our vehicles carry compliant tires all season, which is the practical difference between this and the same model from a rental counter.
The long runs, where room decides
Longest drives we cover. These are the trips where a folded third row and a full ski load stop being an abstract number.
