No pass, no tunnel, no season
I-25 south. 87 miles from Denver International Airport. About 1h 36m.
There is no mountain driving on this route. Nothing closes for avalanche control, no tunnel portal backs up, no detour adds miles in February.
The seasonal traction law covers I-70 from Morrison to Dotsero, September 1 through May 31. CDOT can also put it into effect on other state highways during a storm, but I-25 to Colorado Springs is not part of the seasonal corridor.
The practical result: on a normal winter day the trip looks the same in January as it does in July.
COS or DEN — the decision most people are actually making
Colorado Springs Airport (COS) sits inside the city. For anyone flying here, it is a competing arrival option rather than a connection.
The trade is simple. Land at COS and you skip these 87 miles. Land at DEN, usually for schedule or fare reasons, and the 87 miles are how you close the gap.
Plenty of travelers do one of each: DEN inbound because the flight worked, COS outbound because it did not. We quote each direction separately, so you are not paying for a symmetry you do not need.
What we will not tell you
We publish 1h 36m because that is the verified figure for open road.
We do not publish a rush-hour number for I-25, because we do not have one we trust. Anyone quoting a precise peak-traffic time on this corridor is guessing.
What we do instead is set the pickup against your actual flight. There is more on departure planning on the airport service page.
The rate
From $340 for an SUV with up to six passengers, one way, per vehicle.
Put it beside the mountains for context. Vail is 120 miles and $550. That is 33 miles further and a bit over one and a half times the price.
The difference is not fuel. It is two passes above 10,000 feet, winter closures, and a drive that can double in length on a bad Saturday. I-25 has none of that priced into it.
Where $340 sits among our flat-road runs
Our non-mountain rates track distance in a way the ski routes never do:
- Downtown Denver, 25 miles, $210
- Boulder, 42 miles, $220
- Colorado Springs, 87 miles, $340
Each is a private SUV, one way, for the vehicle. Full list on the rates page.
Groups, and why they show up on this route
This route runs year-round, for business travel and families as much as for skiers.
That changes the vehicle question. A Chevrolet Suburban or a Lincoln Navigator seats six, which covers most family arrivals in one car. A Mercedes-Benz Sprinter takes twelve and handles the group arriving on one flight for one meeting.
For a conference or a wedding block, send the arrival manifest rather than a head count. Landing times decide vehicle numbers as much as passenger counts do.
Return trips to the airport
The drive back is the same 87 miles with a departure time attached to it.
We take reservations around the clock, which matters here because early DEN departures mean early Colorado Springs pickups. Give us the flight number and we will build the timing around it.

Questions we actually get asked
- How long does it take to drive from Denver airport to Colorado Springs?
- 87 miles and 1h 36m on open roads.
- How much is a car from Denver airport to Colorado Springs?
- From $340 one way for an SUV with up to six passengers — the price is for the vehicle, not per passenger. Tolls, child seats and gratuity are included. Larger groups ride in a Sprinter, quoted on request.
- Will our skis and luggage fit?
- A Suburban gives 41.5 cubic feet with all three rows up and 98.8 with the third folded. Ski bags are long rather than bulky, so the constraint is usually shape, not volume — tell us the passenger count, bag count and ski bag count and we will size the vehicle.
- Where do I meet my driver at Denver airport?
- Pre-arranged private cars meet passengers on Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal, at Island 2. Your driver waits at the vehicle in the designated pickup area, not inside the terminal.
- What happens if my flight is delayed?
- Airport waiting is included in the price. A delayed flight is not a rebooking.
- Should I fly into COS instead?
- COS is about 20 minutes from Colorado Springs. Tell us which airport you are landing at when you request the quote.
